For the second year in succession the Allendale Bridge Club won the Wine and Wisdom Quiz held in the Allendale Centre on Friday evening, 1st March. It was the 20th annual quiz organised by Wimborne in Bloom and thanks again to Barclays Bank with their matched funding given under their work in the community programme over £2,500 was raised for this year's 'In Bloom' Campaign.

The winning team won the ECO-COMPOSTING SHIELD and a bottle of red wine each. Five teams tied for second place, The Minster Church of St. Cuthburga, Wimborne U3A, Wimborne NEXUS, Vision Wimborne Dial-a-Ride and a first time entry at the Quiz, COMAD from Colehill. The Team with the splendid name of All Wine, No Wisdom! graciously accepted 'The Loser Prize', each member receiving an Easter Egg.

35 Teams from local Organisations and Groups 'pitted' their wits against each other. Each team paid £36 for a table of six and received food and wine. They answered 8 rounds of questions on a variety of subjects including a Horticulture picture round, Kings and Queens, Great Britain and Music. There was also a very successful raffle which raised over £500.

During the course of the evening teams were also invited to take part in a Table Quiz entitled 'Catchphrases' The winners were the Friends of the Tivoli Team who received a bottle of wine.

Richard Nunn, the newly elected Wimborne in Bloom Chairman, running the event for the first time said, "It was once again a truly Community Event and on behalf of Wimborne in Bloom he thanked all those who supported the occasion, the helpers and those who donated prizes for the raffle."

The money raised will be used for this years 'In Bloom' campaign. The judging of the Town in the Regional Competition, Small Town Category takes place in July.

Next years Wine and Wisdom Evening has already been booked for Friday 7th March 2014.
