2016 Local and Regional Competitions

June 2016: Over the last few days 150 hanging baskets and 40 window boxes full of flowers have been put up around the Town ahead of this year's competitions. These augment the summer planting which took place at the end of May when over 80 wooden barrel planters and flower towers were filled, all ahead of the local and regional 'in Bloom' Judging.

Debbie Field runs Dutch Touch Designs (with husband Geoff and Chris works for them) the firm which provides all the plants around town in the planters, flower towers and window boxes and then waters them throughout the season. Colin Pope runs Little Banks Nursey at Crow, near Ringwood and supplies Wimborne in Bloom with (this year) 150 hanging baskets. He is helped by his brother Martin. He has supplied Wimborne in Bloom ever since we have had hanging baskets, around 20 years. Richard Nunn is Chairman of Wimborne in Bloom.

Once back in town all the hanging baskets were put up by members of Wimborne in Bloom aided by the Town Council Groundsmen

The Annual Wimborne in Bloom Local Competition will take place during the week commencing Monday 18th July. Competition entry forms are being delivered around the town but additional copies are available from the Tourist Information Centre and The Library or can be downloaded from our website.

There are categories for everyone to enter and prizes to be won. They include Best Front or Back Garden, Best Hanging Basket, Best Display of Hanging Baskets or Window Boxes and Best Shop Window Display with the theme 'A Minster Town', also for Best Public House, overall outside display.

Please do not think your garden, window box etc., is not good enough ... if everyone thought like that we would have no entries! Last year we had around 100 entries and it would be good to at least equal that number again. Please have a go and get into the spirit of this local competition. Entries need to be returned by Wednesday 13th July.

Judging in the Regional South and South East in Bloom Competition will take place on the morning of Monday 4th July when the Town will be judged in the Small Town Category.

Please help us to keep the Town extra clean in the coming weeks in the run up to judging. Supporters of the 'In Bloom Campaign' will be carrying out a litter pick of the town on Sunday morning 3rd July. If you can help please meet at 34 Park Lane at 10.00am.
