2024 Open Gardens - Spring Collection - Raises over £3,000
As a new venture for 2024 the Wimborne in Bloom team arranged for a collection of 11 private gardens to open to the public in mid-May, we decided to give this new event the name 'The Spring Collection'. The rationale for the event arose from the simple fact that many gardens reach their best during the earlier months of the year.
Over 300 visitors from around the county and beyond took advantage of the superb May sunshine to visit and enjoy stunning displays of azaleas, rhododendrons and other spring flowering specimens in the various gardens located around all corners of the town.
Several of the gardens also offered teas (and cake!) along with plant sales. The proceeds from the day were over £3,000, all of which will go towards the summer floral display that will shortly be planted up around the town.
Several of the gardens will also be opening again later in mid-summer, on the 30th June 2024, when we hold our main Summer Open Garden Day, for which up to 20 gardens will be taking part.
The Wimborne in Bloom committee would like to record here their thanks to all of the garden openers who so generously gave their time and access to their gardens, to Christopher Batten (Estate Agents) for their generous donation and help with event ticket and poster printing, to the volunteers who helped with putting out signage and making teas on the day, and finally to the event organiser Les Halton whose tireless dedication made the whole thing possible.
