2016 Wine and Wisdom Quiz
Wine and Wisdom fun quiz evening raises over £2,000 thanks to Barclay's support
The 23rd Annual Wimborne in Bloom Wine and Wisdom 'Fun' Quiz Evening took place in the Allendale Centre on Friday evening on the exact anniversary of the first quiz held way back in 1994. On that occasion eleven teams took part in the Town Hall. On Friday there were thirty four teams with 'Saga Louts' coming out on top as they did two years ago. The team were presented with the ECO-COMPOSTING SHIELD and a bottle of red wine each. Second was a team from the Minster with the apt name of Churchmice and third was the team 'Six Shades of Grey'. 'Abbey Gardeners' a team from Stapehill graciously accepted 'The Loser Prize', each member receiving a tube of mini Easter eggs.

34 Teams from local Organisations and Groups 'pitted' their wits against each other in the Quiz, each team paid £36 for a table of six and received food and wine. They answered 8 rounds of questions on a variety of subjects including Famous Advertising Slogans, Name the British Sitcoms and Pot Luck. There was also a very successful raffle which raised over £450.
During the course of the evening teams were also invited to take part in a tabled picture quiz to name 'Well Known Garden Plants'
The final result of the evening, including the raffle, was over £2,000, the total being boosted by Barclays Bank matched funding scheme given under their work in the community programme.
Richard Nunn, Chairman, Wimborne in Bloom said, "It was once again a truly Community Event and on behalf of Wimborne in Bloom he thanked all those who supported the occasion, the helpers and those who donated prizes for the raffle. Such support enables us to ensure the floral displays in the Town continue to please both our residents and visitors alike".
The money raised will be used for this years 'In Bloom' campaign when the Town will again be entered into the Regional Competition in July.
Next year"s Wine and Wisdom Evening has already been booked for Friday 3rd March 2017.
