August The town's floral displays provide a welcome splash of colour along all the main streets and also at several of the busy junctions. Careful plant selection by Beecroft Nursery pays off with all the displays showing good resilience in the face of weeks of strong sun, high temperatures and barely any rain.

Open Gardens Day

June Mid-June approaches and the whole team plus volunteers and Wimborne Minster Town Council Grounds staff all meet up in The Square ready to help put up 142 hanging baskets around the town. The baskets are planted up and supplied by Beecroft Nursery (Damon Corio), the shopkeepers contribute towards the cost of the baskets and part of the watering costs, Grass & Grounds provides the watering services, Wimborne in Bloom puts up the baskets (with WMTC help) and raises the funds needed to pay for the watering and upkeep of the baskets through staging events such as the Open Gardens Day, Duck Race and the annual Wine & Wisdom Quiz night.

Ready to hang baskets

May As spring this year ends with a long warm dry spell the winter planting had passed its best and is removed in readiness for the summer planting, which will be put out next month. The opportunity is also being taken to remove and replace several wooden barrels that have slowly rotted over their many years of service and are now starting to collapse.

Donate!

Wimborne in Bloom is a completely voluntary organisation. We need to raise in excess of £20,000 a year to fund our operation and maintain our high standards. The fund-raising events arranged are listed here. We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would be willing to host an event for us.

Donations are always welcome and can be made directly to our charity using the Just Giving link below.

Almost all of the money raised through our fund-raising events goes towards purchasing the summer and winter flowers and plants to fill the many planters, tubs and towers located throughout the town and then pay for their regular watering throughout the long summer months. Any money left-over goes towards replacement planters, tubs, the costs associated with staging the fund-raising events and our entry into regional/national competitions.
