2026 WINE & WISDOM QUIZ EVENING RAISES OVER £1,000
Another successful Wine and Wisdom Quiz Evening in aid of Wimborne in Bloom was held in the Allendale Centre, Wimborne Minster on Friday 6th March. It was the 32nd Annual Event when a full turnout of 27 Teams pitted their wits against each other in an attempt to win the coveted Eco Composting Shield.
There were eight rounds of questions on a variety of subjects including General Knowledge, Food & Drink, Jane Austen and the Eurovision Song Contest. A break after four rounds and Teams enjoyed a shared platter of food whilst answering a fun round on Countries in Africa.
After a hard fought round of questions The Old Oaks Team were declared the winners with a Team from Nicholas O'Haras Funeral Directors propping up the rest of the Teams. They did at least win some mini chocolate eggs whilst The Old Oaks walked away with the Eco Composting Trophy and a bottle of red wine for each member of the team of six.
The Team propping up the rest: Nicholas O'Haras Funeral Directors with their prize of Mini Cholate Eggs presented by Richard Nunn Chairman, Wimborne in Bloom with from left Emily Terry, Ian Smith, Anna Jackson, Richard Nunn, Tim Bodele-Randle and Rory Craig.
Wimborne Minsters Mayoress Mrs Barbara Hart drew the winning tickets in a splendid raffle which raised over £400 with the whole evening raising in excess of £1,000 towards Wimborne in Bloom funds and in particular the summer planting of the Flower Towers and Planters around town.
Judging by the amount of comments from people as they left the Allendale Centre it was obvious that those present had enjoyed the evening and that there had been a good atmosphere throughout the event.
Wimborne in Bloom thanks all who supported the event by participating, helping with the running, providing the refreshments or who generously donated prizes for the raffle.
The Winning Team: The Old Oaks each member holding their prize of a bottle of red wine (from the left) John Allen, Committee Member of Wimborne in Bloom who co-ordinated the evening, Gill Smith, Barry Coates,(partly hidden), Susan Egan, Sue Bowley and Jill Norman, (holding the Trophy between them), Nicola Winkley and Richard Nunn Chairman, Wimborne in Bloom.

Apologies Due to a clerical error the Joker card played by The Old Oaks had not been recorded on the system when the results were announced to all present in the hall, this meant that their total score (along with team ranking) was erroneously a full 9 points less than it should have been. The error was notified and corrected before the affected teams had left the hall. A new score keeper is being sought for the 2027 event.
