2019 Wine and Wisdom Quiz - New Heroes On The Block

The 26th annual Wimborne in Bloom Wine & Wisdom Quiz took place in the Allendale Centre on Friday 1st March. The 31 competing teams reported that they had a really enjoyable evening despite some questions needing them to dig deep! At the end of the evening only three points separated the first five teams with the Avenue Road Geniuses achieving victory, and the Eco-Composting Shield over last year's winners Wimborne Civic Society. The battling continued through to the two teams who drew at the other end of the table!

The two rounds which proved the most challenging were 'Shakespeare' and 'Essex Girls' – some would consider unlikely partners!

The raffle raised a staggering amount of over £500 to contribute to the total raised for the evening of approx. £1700 - again boosted by the Barclays Bank Matched Fundraising within their work in the community programme.

During the evening's proceedings Mr Ian Willis took to the stage to announce that 'Wimborne in Bloom' was to be one of the beneficiaries of a generous legacy left by the late Mrs Margaret Joyce Walker, more details can be found here.

Wimborne in Bloom thanks all who supported the event by participating, helping with the running, or who generously donated prizes for the raffle. The funds raised make an excellent contribution to the costs of providing the floral displays in the Town for all to enjoy in a year when Wimborne will again be representing the South and South East Region in the RHS Britain in Bloom competition.

And next year's Quiz Evening will take place on Friday 6th March 2020 so book the date in your diaries now!
